Unless you've been under a rock for a while, you probably know that Mr. Obama said something recently. He said a lot of things, of course, but the thing I'm talking about is his claim that his opponent is trying to make voters afraid of him because he doesn't "look like the presidents on the dollar bills". Something like that. So, it was probably a stealthy form of the race card. Because he isn't a white guy like Washington or Lincoln, McCain and Bush are trying to make you not want to vote for him.
My question about the race card is simple: WHO CARES?
It's such a stupid card to play anymore. We as Americans should have gotten over the race thing by the death of the great Martin Luther King, Jr. He told us that he wished for judgment by the content of character, not by skin color. And we know this by now, if not immediately when MLK was assassinated. Most of us know that the color of your skin pretty much just doesn't matter.
Allow me to paraphrase Bernard Goldberg in his book 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America: For liberals like the Obama camp, in their undying pessimism, it is always yesterday. For them, it is always Selma, Alabama, 1964.
I'm sad for Obama. He might have been living under a rock for a while to think people care he doesn't look like the presidents on the dollar bills.
